When I was a new mother, overcoming breastfeeding challenges to meet my goals relied on a chance encounter, an offhand remark and eventually, a friend sharing the quality support resources she had stumbled upon. My goal is to see that each new parent's experience is not left to chance, but is instead supported by evidence based care tailored to their needs and goals. In addition to providing breastfeeding info and strategies, I view empowering new parents and providing emotional support as essential to my role.
As an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) I have completed the most extensive preparation for this role. I participate regularly in professional education programs to provide clients with the current and comprehensive lactation care. Prior to certification as an IBCLC, I supported new mothers as a volunteer breastfeeding counselor for ten years, providing phone help and facilitating mother to mother support groups in various communities on the North Shore.
In addition to my lactation consulting practice, New Family Nurture Lactation Care, I am a board member and current Board President of the Massachusetts Lactation Consultants Association. I served as Continuing Education Coordinator for the Nursing Mother’s Council of the Boston Association of Childbirth Educators from 2012-2015; developing breastfeeding education programs for birth and lactation professionals and volunteers. My past experience includes work in both Education and Community Service, teaching young children and working closely with parents. I live in Hamilton, on the North Shore with my husband and have three grown children.
