About Insurance Coverage
Breastfeeding education and support are included in the Women's Preventive Service provision of the Affordable Care Act. This means private insurers are to include lactation care among the preventive services available to women with no copay costs to families. At present most MA insurers reimburse families for out of network lactation services. Families pay (via credit card, check or cash) at the time of the visit and submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. I provide all clients with a Superbill Receipt which includes my National Provider Number, Tax ID and all other information required for insurance or healthcare spending account reimbursement.
At present Mass Health does not reimburse for my services.
Aetna and Unicare offer in network lactation consultants (IBCLCs), however I am not presently in network with either plan. To determine your plan's coverage and preauthorization requirements contact the member services department at your Health Insurance plan.
